Baidu Goes Open

Baidu's June 2025 strategy reversal — they open-sourced ten variants of ERNIE 4.5 under Apache 2.0, from 0.3B all the way to a 424B mixture-of-experts. Until then, Baidu had kept ERNIE closed while DeepSeek, Qwen, and GLM defined the open-weight Chinese landscape. ERNIE 4.5 was Baidu's catch-up move.
